One of the reasons I love working with artists is that you get involved with some crazy projects and some challenging requests. One recent assignment turned out to be a little more challenging than I had expected.

The second stage of the CART in Durham project involved the cart's journey as it was pulled by hand through the cobbled streets of Durham, up steep hills to the cathedral and beyond, to the University. This was always going to be challenging but the snow and freezing cold with biting wind made it even more so.

Photographing the CART in Durham project was great fun but also quite hard work. Durham in March is not the warmest place but with the severe snow fall over the Pennines, just getting there and back each time was a challenge, as the project involved two separate stages over two separate weeks.

After the initial performance in Preston in 2012, Susan Walsh's CART project is appearing in Durham during March 2013 and I'm delighted to have been asked back to photograph it again.

I am really getting into traditional printmaking now and am enjoying experimenting with different techniques. I really love the collagraphs that I have been working on over the past few months and am certainly going to continue with more of these but I wanted to try out another method when I couldn't get access to the print studio to use the presses.

As a member of ArtLab contemporary print studios in Preston, I took up the opportunity to join the 20:20 print exchange project this year. This is a project where artist-printmaker members of various print studios all over the country each submit an edition of 25 prints at 20cm square.

When I heard about the Alan Turing Sunflower project set up by MOSI (Museum of Science & Industry) earlier this year, I signed up as it sounded an interesting project and I wanted to be involved. I sowed several varieties of sunflower and waited for them to grow and flower so i could photograph and count their spirals and also to make some artwork from it.

Today I received my corporate card for UCLan along with access to the Library and Print workshop, so I can start on the AA2A programme. I am really excited and can't wait to make a start in making some prints.

Another big assignment this past couple of weeks, photographing a series of 90 painted life-size cutout models before they get shipped off to a museum for their collection and future exhibition. This was an exciting project as the models are breathtaking with really dynamic colours so I wanted to ensure I did them justice.
